New York: Start your engines! High-performance slot car racing met child-friendly stunt action in New York City’s Times Square during the month of February, when Carrera revved its engine and challenged an international audience of thousands with its feature shop in the world’s largest Toys R Us. Overlapping with the American International Toy Fair, Toy Industry Association’s largest event, Carrera’s in-store raceway provided the perfect introduction to the world of Carrera electronic racing with Carrera’s GO!!! Batman and Digital132 slot car and race track systems. While the young anxiously awaited their turn to step into the cockpit of Batman’s Hyperdrive and take on the Joker’s evil henchman, Bane, through a series of loops, lane-change section and cross-overs, the young at heart embraced the opportunity to relive their youth and experience the real-life racing action of its Digital132 slot car racing system. With a team of experienced crew members officiating the races, the competition was friendly, fast and filled with a full field of original licensed 1:32 scale cars, including Carrera’s Ford® Crown Victoria™ Police Interceptor, Chevrolet® Camero™ Concept, ’57 Chevy, Chevrolet Monte Carlo™ NASCAR® Car of Tomorrow driven by Kevin Harvick, Bobby Labonte’s Dodge® Charger™ NASCAR Car of Tomorrow and more!
Proving that Carrera racing is not a spectator’s sport, as the racers raced, fans browsed shelf after shelf of Carrera’s racing systems, such as GO!!! Police Chase, GO!!! NASCAR, and the best-selling GO!!! Mario Kart licensed under Nintendo® DS. More serious race enthusiasts eyed Carrera’s popular Digital132 NASCAR set and 1:32 scale replicas of Kevin Harvick’s Chevrolet Impala SS Car of Tomorrow and Bobby Labonte’s Dodge Avenger Car of Tomorrow. Only Carrera’s most popular makes and models were available for purchase at the featured demonstration, including the new Chevorlet Camero concept car, Ford Mustang GT™ “Fire Chief”, and Dodge Charger STS™ as well as timeless classics like the 1970 Plymouth® Superbird™ licensed by Petty Racing®, ’57 Chevy, 1932 Ford Hot Rod and 1941 Willys Coupe Hot Rod. Just as quickly as Carrera raced into Times Square, the non-stop, competitive racing adventure could pull into a toy or hobby shop near you!
