"Main street´s the place!"

The original Pontiac advertisement for the GTO called the car a "device for shrinking time and space".  While the car certainly appealed to those demanding performace, it was also a lot of fun for cruising.  And of course knowing you had a ton of power under the hood made it more interesting.  Hasta la vista, baby!
